Got to work the NCAA regional in Louisville
So I wanted to share my views and experiences working the NCAA Regional here. Give you all a little behind closed doors look from my eyes

Jay Wright is a good dude. Cool as hell, got his business card from one of his assistants. I was kinda hoping they would win last night.

Bill Self, he's a good dude as well. But you could tell he had the ability to be a dick if he wanted to

So before the game, I passed out "hot sheets" in press row and media overflow. These sheets have basic info. Starting lineups, official names, etc. Now apparently per the SID it's not wise to let fans have extras because what if the fans, band, etc get the names of the refs and start yelling his name? Never mind the fact that the public is aware of who is calling the game before the game even starts.

Speaking of officials, I learned that Maryland actually has photos of who is calling the game and they show this to the players pre game. Apparently I also learned what goes on in the referee meetings. The discuss what each team is notorious for and what to look out for. Kinda neat

I thought UCLA cheerleaders were hot and left nothing to the imagination. Then I saw Miami's

Grant Hill and Bill Raftery have stories for days. Still, Raftery could not tell me where "Onions" came from

Media buffet is the greatest thing ever

Kansas travels very well. Definitely has the crowd advantage last night

NCAA says that we are a great host. Won't be the last time we host a regional round

Tried to get a regional championship shirt and had, but of the losing team I saw both boxes. Soon as the game ended, the Kansas shirts were gone in a flash

If you know the press wifi password for the yum center, use the press one. More bandwidth

Pat Forde is a cool guy. I see why UK fans hate him

And finally, the regional floor is up for sale. Who ever wants it can get it

I have this feeling we will be hosting more regionals. They seem to do better at actual arenas as opposed to domed stadiums. Crowd is louder, and more into it. Plus when you look at the Yum Center and the hotels that surround the arena (literally) it really is the perfect location. I can see us being in the rotation for more regional sites for sure.

Hasn't the NCAA already stated they won't be playing tourney games in domes except for the Final Four? As long as that is the case, we're a shoo-in for an opening round or regional every 2-3 years.

Chris you are correct sir. The NCAA actually tried this concept 2 years ago. It has worked so well, that this will be a permanent fixture. (Me personally, I would like to see a final four in an arena to see how it goes. It would make it a more exclusive event IMO)

Im gonna do a sin here and respectfully disagree with junkman here. Miami's cheer and dance teams make Tennessee's look like Amish women by comparison. I was pitching a tent the whole time looking at them. You know how hard that is to conceal something like that in khakis??!!

It's not the khakis that are the problem. It's the pleats. The pleats

Does anyone here have to wear suits and semi-formal dress to work or are y'all mostly business casual M-F? Started buying up sport coats and shit the last few months preparing to be an adult again; little different for me than wearing a combat uniform.

I've only worn a coat to work on interview day. I like a good wedding to bust out the full suit though

The occasional dress up is nice. But the thought of having to buy a lot of suits makes me cringe.

Thanks for answering. I work for a wealthy older professor who gives his GAs what I would call a uniform allowance, so I dress more formally now than I will likely ever have to in the real world. Had to learn what's worth buying & what's made in china, difference b/t blazer & sport coat, canvassed vs. fused, all that stuff I thought was highfalutin in my 20s.
