Memo to EVERYONE: When you're talking about the ACC make sure you clarify which version you are talking about. Duke, UNC and NC State are the only teams in the ACC who have won titles..
So they don't get credit for UofL or Cuse who are in the conference, and they don't get credit for Maryland who was in the conference when they won a title. That's some harsh criteria to gage the current state of a conference

I'm thinking he might be singing a different tune if Missouri and A&M had actually brought something significant to the table when they joined the SEC.

The teams IN the ACC have 4 of the 5 active Hall of Fame coaches in college basketball. The teams IN the ACC have 7 titles from 4 different teams since 2001. You say the ACC is a one team league? Let’s take away the best team from the ACC and SEC since the year 2000 and see what’s left…
ACC:
Duke
UNC – 2 Titles, 4 Final Fours
UofL – 1 Title, 3 Final Fours
Syracuse – 1 Title, 2 Final Fours
Georgia Tech – 1 Final Four
Total – 5 Titles, 10 Final Fours, 4 teams, 3 active coaches

SEC:
Kentucky
Florida – 2 Titles, 4 Final Fours
LSU – 1 Final Four
Total – 2 Titles, 5 Final Fours, 2 teams, 0 active coaches

There is zero data to support the ACC being a one team show. And here’s the thing about perception, Billy Donovan ain’t walking through that door. The coach that earned the only 2 titles and 4 of 5 Final Fours outside of UK, is gone. That leaves you with UK and …………… what? Every team (sans GT) in the ACC still has their coach that has won all those Titles and Final Fours. There is ZERO comparison in reality or perception between these 2 conferences.

Perception is recent not old. Done with this argument since you keep cherry picking stats
What is the ACC's recent perception problem? Syracuse APR, Louisville strippers, UNC academics … I could definitely buy that as a recent perception problem. But recently, in terms of the quality of the product on the court, the ACC is as good as it gets.

I'm not sure what stats I've been cherry picking either. It all seems pretty relevant to the conversation

Could be...but the ACC has one too imo. It's been Duke and then nothing when it comes to final 4s. Off the top of my head...last 15 yrs SEC is comparable to the ACC in Final 4s (I'm not counting the big East transfers).

Paige should be on point to be honest, Berry is much more of a spot up shooter than Paige. UNCs guards just don't complement each other very well as they are all small, short, not that quick and not good shooters. This roster has a lot of talent, pieces just don't complement each other.

Disagree. This is a function of Paige's continued deterioration as a player. If Roy pushes Paige back to point, it's an acknowledgement that the hopes of having Paige be a shooting threat failed and he can't even remotely fill that role. Berry is a bad shooter, too, and will unquestionably be the team's PG in 2016-2017. Instead of grooming that aspect of his game, Roy is going to throw him into an equally impossible to fill role for the sake of Paige's confidence/ego. He's literally in panic mode trying to salvage this title shot.

I know you want Berry on point for your team but I think the switch is worth a shot, and title shots only come around so often. Roy should do anything he can to try, and right this sinking ship. I fully believe part of the reason for Paige's decline is playing off ball. The 2016-2017 team may be banned from the tourney, and even if they are not, that team is going to suck. Paige, Jackson, Hicks, Meeks, Johnson are all going to be gone. Rumors from Marcus friends are that Marcus doesn't feel comfortable playing off ball, I think it's a worth a shot. That, and benching Meeks might save the season. Meeks literally is useless for UNC at this point, and just clogs up space.

RE: Round 1 Results
As a desperation play, sure, it's worth a shot. If everyone on the perimeter is going 3-of-13 from the field, what can it hurt to toss Paige back at the lead guard spot? Heck, give Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson a go if you want. Still makes it a desperation play.

My two cents: this will actually exacerbate the problems that started this nose-dive. Guys became accustomed to clearly defined roles with Paige and Meeks out at different points in the season. Now that they're back, it's a LeBron-Wade dance of who takes the alpha dog status, how you get the previously absent guys integrated and happy, and still win ball games. Shuffling around Paige and Berry is going to further the confusion about who is supposed to do what. Whether in business or sports, people don't like having their roles/responsibilities constantly changing. It's the same thing Williams did last year with Tokoto and Paige. He won't commit to a plan and stick to it.

RE: Round 1 Results
Roy is a stubborn bastard, he has a plan, generally sticks to it for too long, and only adjusts when shit hits the fan. I think it's come to that point in the season again. His two post offense isn't working, and why UNC doesn't run any pick, and roll with Paige, and Johnson is beyond me. That used to be some of UNC's most deadly offense. Just saw Paige is in the 99th percentile in the country this year in scoring effectiveness when he's the primary ball handler in pick and roll. Problem is the sample size isn't what it should be due to Roy Williams inability to coach.

Good question but UNC insiders, and Inside Carolina's board admin have said the intel is the three of them are unhappy at UNC, and will try to jump pro.

im assuming they mean overseas pro. They're all great collage players that I'd love to have at UofL, but not ready for the NBA. It seems really short sighted considering they'd be the go-to guys next season

RE: Round 1 Results
Saturday update!

The Guardians and FreeBallers are headed to the Final Four! [Queue the CBS intro music] The Pirates need 2 assists or 3 defense from Crawford to move on, and the Kitty Cats/Empire matchup will be decided by a head to head showdown between Crawford and Mitoglou. The Empire will need at least a 3 defense advantage to steal the win. Considering Crawford recorded 5 steals earlier in the week, and Wake is playing a Boston College team that ranks 324th in steals given up, ChrisLindy has to like his chances. An incompetent Cuse/UofL scorekeeper could really hurt the Empire here.

In NIT news, everything is riding on the BC/Wake game. The abandoned Bitches need 7 rebounds or 2 defense from Eli Carter to pull off the upset, but a miss at the charity stripe could end their upset dreams. The Shooters are in trouble with the Devin Thomas getting suspended for doing blow out of a hookers' ass. He'll need 5 rebounds and 1 defense from CMM to hang on. Speaking of CMM, the Dominators will need a huge game from him to the tune of at least 24 points and 2 assists. It's not out of the question, but HotHot has to be feeling good here. The winner of this matchup will go on to face the well rested Dragons who earned a 1st round bye.

I don't dig the split tourney. Also is this year not the weirdest ever for schedules? I can't remember a late Sunday game every week before. Maybe it's conference affiliation. Our Sunday games are always at like 12-4. My team has shit the bed two weeks in a row. Not much for me to say. These have to be my two worst performances since conference play. I'm going to look at my numbers in a bit.
