Currently 39-30 good for 5th in the conference, with kind of a meh roster, so a pretty darn good rookie season

RE: NBA talk
Spurs win 87-79. Pretty low scoring. But I guess they are the top two defensive teams in the league, so no surprise there. Should make for a pretty good western conference finals.

Thanks for the Stevens info. He's so laid back I thought his style would fit the pro game also. Unlike RP.

For anyone interested, the Spurs play the Warriors tonight. They play each other this time and one more before the end of the season. the warriors have 9 losses which means if they are going to have to win out to get the record. in those last 4 games they have to play the spurs twice. starting tonight at 10:30 on TNT

Dropping a 17 point lead to the *cough* Timberwolves really hurt their chances. I don't see them beating the Spurs twice unless Pop is resting everyone

RE: NBA talk
3-0 will set an all time record. Cool.

@ Memphis (26-14 at home)
@ San Antonio (39-0 at home)
Memphis (16-22 on the road)

That's a tough 3-0, and going balls to the wall to go 3-0 could be a bad thing heading into the playoffs. I think we're in for an epic showdown in the Western Conference Finals.

RE: NBA talk
Memphis has been in a tailspin of late and completely decimated by injuries. While the splits may make the road game look difficult for the Warriors, I think they'll beat the Grizz both times. That game at San Antonio is huge... there has been a LOT of sports talk about whether Pop will let his team go for the NBA record for home wins (Celtics own the current mark at 40-1 in 1985-1986).

Idk.... remember the last time a team tried to go 40-0 in anything?

yep. i'll be watching. there was talk from the warriors camp that the stars might be resting.... doubt they wont try to win, but should be an interesting dynamic between the now and the next few games.

but speaking of record, i was watching soe old bulls footage the other day... man scottie pippen was the perfect combination of speed, length, strength, shooting,...etc.. the dude was so long but had handles of a guard. what a pickup out of central arkansas

In a game that no one on the east coast will be awake to see finish, the Warriors go for an NBA record 73 wins tonight against the Grizzlies at 10:30pm. Even the Memphis fans will have to be up till midnight to see the final score. Guess I'll just set the DVR and you'll still get your ratings ... assholes.

The question. Who would win a 7 game series? I still think the bulls would take the series against these guys.

Bulls without question. Pippen is the perfect defensive panacea to Steph's shooting... won't shut him down by any means, but he would keep him reasonably in check. And Jordan would destroy Klay Thompson. The Rodman/Green match-up would be epic.

Except that Rodman couldn't shoot. Would have to guard far from the basket. Would still be a good matchup considering he was def. Poy at least once with the pistons.

I think you add in another 6-6 guard in Ron harper, and a long tonI kukoc, bulls length would be tough.

Well this one does for sure because we are taking about the breaking of their record.

Plus, what's wrong with the bulls? They are guys that I grew up watching.

I know. I just think it's funny because even if you weren't talking about breaking their record they would still come up. I'm guessing by page 6. I wonder how annoyed teenagers and 20 something's get when the 30+ year old comes in and has to remind them of Ye Olde Glorious Bull's of the 90's. That's just been my experience over the years. It seems like everyone who grew up watching them thru those years feels the need to defend their honor or something. YEAH I KNOW, MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREATEST EVAAAAAR. THANKS FOR THE REMINDER.

The older I get, the more I understand the folks who said "Back in my day..." when I was young. Working on the same college campus where I attended school 30 years ago makes it very difficult to avoid saying shit like that. Same thing for sports, or cars, whatever.

to put it in perspective, UK only has 4 titles after black guys were allowed to play, but don't let that stop them from claiming superiority based on those half-assed titles

Kobe Bryant took a career high 50 shots, scored 60 points, and knocked Utah out of the playoffs in his final career game. He had 23 4th quarter points, and it was his first time scoring 50 since 2009. Touche.
[edit: just read this which waters it down a bit: "[The Jazz] were eliminated from playoff contention shortly before tipoff by Houston's win over the Sacramento Kings"]

Meanwhile Steph Curry ANNIHILATES another record by hitting 400 3's in a single season, and they go on to beat the Bulls' 20 year regular season wins record. They match up with James Harden in the 1st round.

RE: NBA talk
Fun fact: the Eastern Conference had better depth than the west this season for what seems like the first time in a decade. The Eastern 8-seed, Detroit, finished 44-38 while the bottom half sported a 56.4% winning percentage overall. The West #8 finished right at .500 (and needed a win in the finale to do so) and their bottom half won at just a 51.5% collective.

Now the top half is a whole other story. Obviously the top 3 favorites are all in the West. I don't trust LeBron in the least and have heard/seen nothing to tell me Toronto is more than a paper tiger. After that, things get REAL dicey in the east in terms of championship pedigrees. Dwyane Wade's old ass dragged his team to the 3 seed. The Hawks wound up in 4th (I was shocked to learn they were even in the playoffs when I watched Sportscenter last night). Boston and Charlotte are relying on lead guards (Isaiah Thomas, Kemba Walker) that are defying all NBA rules for personal and team success.

All said, I'm guessing the East has almost no chance this year. Both because their best aren't as good as the west's best AND the fact that the gap from top to bottom seems wider in the Western Conference (read: the 5-8 seeds in the West aren't going to challenge the top half teams in Round 1 and wear them down).

Only chance the East has of taking the title is if the Warriors and Spurs drain all they have against each other in the western conference finals
