Auto Draft Rules
Given another season that (at the moment) appears to have another absentee drafter, can we consider some sort of auto-draft policy for next season? I know I'm WAY ahead of this, but there needs to be some mechanism that makes a vacated franchise still attractive to a replacement owner and doesn't provide a direct advantage to the teams drafting in his proximity.

Maybe the division lead could seek silent ballots (one name only) from every other team and then announce the name of the player who received the most votes. This would rely on team honesty, but I think the impacted owners (further from the absentee draft slot) would be incentivized not to tab Rüben Grabmuhkräcz with the 1st round pick.

You could have someone from the other division draft for that team.

I like this idea...at least of we need it this season.

Only drawback to that idea (I thought about it) is it gives that owner a sort of mock draft to monitor if the other league is ahead of the one he's officially participating in.

I say auto-draft the highest returning scorer available. It's an easy rule to follow, and points are appealing to the general public. If he already has 2 guards, then his next player is the highest returning scorer who is a forward or center. Rinse, repeat.

That's a reasonable option. Or maybe draft the highest combined PPG+RPG+APG+DPG to bring a more balanced pick into play.

RE: Auto Draft Rules
Even better. Hopefully we never have to do that. It's definitely an advantage for the folks who are drafting against the dreaded auto-draft
