(S7)Any interest in a buy in?
I know it was brought up a couple years back, but we only had 10 members at the time. With the league growing to 16 or even 20 members (I've tried to recuit a couple more), a modest buy-in could reap some nice rewards for the winners. Would you want to do a buy in? If so, for what amount, and what would be the payout?

He's my initial take:
  • $20 buy in for every team sent to Harv through PayPal before the draft
  • If we have 20 teams, that's a $400 pot
  • 30% goes to the tournament champ - $120
  • 20% goes to the runner up - $80
  • 25% goes to the regular season 1st place - $100
  • 15% goes to to regular season 2nd place - $60
  • 10% goes to regular season 3rd place - $40

I know it would be a pain in the ass for Harv to collect all the money, but I'm just throwing it out there. You can throw it right back.

I'd be game, but we'd probably have to seperate the pay league from a free league or risk losing a LOT of our current owners. I think even Harv has been rather adamant in his opposition of a pay league.

RE: Any interest in a buy in?
I don't have a problem with it, but it's going to have be done independently of me and the league itself. Meaning whoever wants to take part can, but it will be run through J or EL or whoever else.

So if it's a 20 team league and only 12 want to play for money then those other 8 don't have to put up money if they don't want. Just have the 12 send their entrance fee to someone(not me) at the beginning and pay out from that pot to the highest finisher(s) among the bettors.

I already get mega-shit for my decisions as commish as it is so I'd like to stay as independent from this as possible. And another thing is that all my decisions(about anything) have to be accepted like men/women and not cause people to go absolutely apeshit because there's now money on the line. You will be banned quickly.

I'd play for money if I weren't the commish. Smile

I would be down to do that.

It would make trading players a lot more argumentative.

That's a good point you all brought up. Considering how hostile trades can be in a free league, I'll hold off on a buy in until we get a trade process everyone agrees on.

If you all decide to do a pay league, I would be interested.
