I'd rather set the bar low and be surprised. Ryan McMahon actually finished ahead of Rowan in the Florida Mr. Basketball race. A couple familiar names on that list

1) Antonio Blakeney
2) Ben Simmons
3) Ryan McMahon
4) Maverick Rowan

Zack Burdi clocks a 96 MPH fastball. Cardinal Nine are playing as well as any team in the country.

From what I read Reggie was excellent in this morning's scrimmage. Scored on every possession except 1 and that was when a receiver fumbled after a 20 yd completion. OL not getting rave reviews but they are running against a very good DL.

Former Petrino/Ark RB commit walking on at UL. He went JUCO and had an offer from ND also. We have picked up a JUCO OC that is projected to start. Kevin Austin. UL is getting a visit from Coppin St one and done guard 6'4 Sterling Smith who shoots 42% from 3.

On the off chance that anyone was A) paying attention and B) holding their breath, Derryck Thornton declared for Duke this afternoon. Unless one of the other HS'ers reclassify (Rowan), we're banking on Damion Lee or some other 5th-year transfer to fill out the roster next season.

On the plus side, Donovan Mitchell is wowing folks in these all-star games. Was the regional Jordan Game MVP and dropped 30 in the process. Still not sure we can crack the Top 6 in next year's ACC, but we may be young and exciting like that Preston Knowles team a few years ago.

I never thought Thorton was headed here. Lee is leaning UL but if Stanley Johnson declares pro I think AZ becomes the favorite.

I can temper my expectations a lot easier with as young and inexperienced of a team as we'll have next year.

I honestly think I'll have more fun next season. It's hard for me not to expect big things with a nice recruiting class and AA Senior Wayne, Preseason AA Trez and pure stud and probable lottery pick Terry and solid complimentary guard CJ. I mean that all sounds good in theory.

Looks like Maverick Rowan is out for the '15 season. He has been trying to reclassify but apparently doesn't want to take the FCAT which if he passed would allow him to graduate from a Fl public school.

UL also getting a visit this weekend from graduate transfer Sterling Smith - Coppin St.

RE: Tidbits
Checked out Sterling. Role player for a horrendous 8-23 MEAC team. (edit: led the team in scoring but used less than 20% of the possessions when on the court)

58% of his attempts come from outside the arc. Made 74 threes last year at 42%. Only 77 trips to the charity stripe all year. Pretty similar to Bryn Forbes when he was at Cleveland St.

Considering how much Pitino preaches defense above all else, I have no idea why he's recruiting guys that are just going to come off the bench and hopefully hits some open shots when the defense forgets about them. This sudden shift from Pitino seems like a knee jerk reaction. Not that it's the wrong move, but I'd hate for our defense to suffer because we just have a couple spot up shooters on the perimeter.

No offer made, he is certainly better off filling out our roster with a grad player than taking on another project who may or may not turnout. The '16 class is supposed to be one of the best ever ( I certainly have no way of knowing that) and taking a grad would free up roster spots for '16.

Damion Lee completes visit with no commitment. 5 schools with offers. AZ, UL, MD, Zags and Marq. From the CJ "he's using advanced scouting and statistical analysis to help him pick a school."

Saw that the other day in the C-J bit on him. I love it. Really smart process for any DI prospect that knows their strengths but especially when it's your last ride. If you're a pick & roll guy or a spot-up shooter, it's kinda nice to know how much a coach/team uses it and how well they use it. As an "advanced scouting" apologist, I was impressed.

Yessir. My best source says he's a card. The same one that said shaq and Anton would be gone 3 weeks before the season ended.

Also since I don't think this has been addressed, wyking is gone and Ralph Willard will step in on a short term deal.

That's awesome.

I literally won't even recognize this team next year. I don't like that feeling. Is this how UK and Duke fans feel every year? Better yet, what if we fall in love with Lee and Lewis ... and then poof ... they're gone faster than they arrived. I just went full circle Sad

If they are good young men and give it their all they will be remembered well, or they could become CJones.2. In some ways I don't give a damn. Each season is its own and has a place in the history of UL. I'm betting we enjoy this season.

whether you like the idea of multiple 1-year guys, pretty cool we landed 2 of the top 3 or 4 transfers with Lee being the consensus #1. What Kenny does with the 2016 class should be interesting.

Nice, subtle dig at T-Will in there. Also, we're going to be a VERY interesting team next season. You could talk me into about 5 or 6 guys as the potential leading scorer in 2015-2016.

Hopefully that isn't the kiss of death. "Mike Marra - greatest high school shooter I've ever seen"

But reading that comment from Pitino just gave me cold chills. I'm going to make an even more ridiculous comparison and say Donnovan Mitchell reminds me of a young Russell Westbrook. And I don't think that's a very lofty comparison considering how slowly Westbrook's career took off. The size/athleticism/defense/competitiveness is all there. Even has the same strengths and weaknesses in his game.

I guess it depends whether Mitchell losses his mind in a Russdiculous fashion or TWill fashion. One of those led us to (and nearly cost us) a championship, the other, back to back Elite Eights. Competitiveness and fire is never a bad thing. Yeah, some guys lose their head as a result, but even the worst offenders like Rondo still led his team to a championship.
