If we don't have a play called the Annexation of Puerto Rico in the next season, I'm going to be TERRIBLY disappointed in Kenny.

So you mean the ONE, throw the ball all the way in the backcourt, out of bounds play pitino has?

Seriously though, have you ever seen a hall of fame coach have so few options from the baseline? I'm sure he has a good reason, but I would LOVE to know it

Wait til 6 seconds and depending on who has the ball either an off balance three or a 1 on 3 trip to the rack?

I'm sure some site has to have stats out there for points per possession off an inbounds play vs. points on a normal play vs. coming out of a timeout, etc. That has to be the best way to judge which are the best X's and O's coaches, no? HotHot, got any sources?

Haha. The no timeout policy.

He is definitely the anti-denny Crum in these two aspects. Remember when Crum used to run the play where the ball inbounds under the basket and the 4 players are lined up on the ft line and they would pull one player juat beyond the three for a shot and then 2 would break to the rack? I remember a grade school coach trying to get us to run that play. Man I miss some of his in game x's and o's genius.

Rick should bring him on staff for a year and learn how to draw an in-bounds play coming out of a timeout.

He could show him how to roll up a program and carry it up and down the sidelines.

Good question, don't recall seeing it. Hoop-Math keeps a lot of possession based stats but not that one: http://hoop-math.com/leader_o2016.php

Wouldn't be surprised if the team analytics guys in the NBA kept that stat.

We likely would have taken the place of Cal or Duke on the 4 line. But, we couldn't go to the South bracket because the regional finals are in Louisville. So then, we would have had Duke's draw in the West. UNC Willmington and Yale to get to the S16, and Oregon/TAMU/OK to get to the Final Four. FUCK FUCK FUCK.

I would have been salivating at a chance to take down Oregon and Oklahoma. Not saying it's a given, but all Pitino has to do is take out Buddy Hield for a shot at the Final Four? I'll take that bet 15 times out of 10. I actually think Duke, with their entire 6 man roster, is a good bet to come out of that region.

Probably depends on how many hooks and charges the refs are willing to let Allen get away with. Which being the tournament will probably be every singe one.

I was in our office break room during Duke's first round game and some of my co-workers were mocking my pick of Duke to the FF since they were down to UNC-Wilmington. I guaranteed that Allen would wind up taking 20 free throws in that game and they would win. Allen wound up shooting 17 free throws. He and Ingram are going to live at the FT line for the rest of the tourney IMO.

You drew the conclusion that we were perhaps losing scholarships, so why not go farther and say our program is getting shut down. Just some flippery on my part.

I truly hope a kid who committed does not have more info than various and sundry news outlets who would love to scoop everyone on an announcement of the actual penalty. Maybe he heard rumors. I expect every coach worth a shit is chatting up UofL recruits right now.

I would be VERY surprised if we don't lose scholarships. And I have no inside info but if we self-imposed a post season ban in a year we could have won a title or hung a final four banner...this isn't the end. I just hope it doesn't vacate the 2013 title. But if we are only hit with a few scholarship losses and a CRP suspension, I'll feel like we got pretty lucky.

I have a gut feeling that the title is safe but maybe that's wishful thinking. I feel like we're almost certain to get hit with lack of institutional control and I imagine we lose a few scholarships in addition to the post season ban.

Good point about the LOI. That doesn't happen unless Pitino saw something he didn't like. Better now than a transfer later. I doubt it has anything to do with anticipating a loss of scholarships.

I was wondering if Pitino thought he might have potentially found another diamond in the rough like Russ when he signed hughes.
