I think it's going to take a couple clowns like Russ to help bring the spirits back up for the program. Even after this is resolved. His personality was a big factor for getting back out of the shitter after the 15 second hookup at porcinis

You know seeing Andre McGee reduced to an uber driver, I feel like there is a lesson that can be learned here.

RE: Tidbits
Sullivan says McGee should probably keep quiet about the whole situation. However finds issue with intentionally using Uber to try and ambush him

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/spo.../81646824/

Quote:Andre McGee has his rights. When ESPN's John Barr hired McGee as a driver and commenced asking pointed questions on camera, the University of Louisville's former director of basketball operations had no obligation to respond.

Freedom of speech includes the right to remain silent, and if Katina Powell's book is not entirely fiction, McGee might be hard-pressed to open his mouth without incriminating himself. Since the conduct described in "Breaking Cardinal Rules" could lead to criminal prosecution, McGee would be wise to heed his attorney's advice and hold his tongue unless and until he is served with a subpoena.

Using Uber to get a statement from Andre, genius in my opinion

RE: Tidbits
Dr. Larry Benz BOT Chair explains why Pitino will be cleared

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/opi.../81653636/

Quote:First and foremost, I take Coach Pitino at his word. At many public and media venues he has vehemently denied any knowledge and he has provided adequate reasons. Who are we to question? His media presence, integrity, and honesty are undeniable. Understanding that this old fashioned “face” value doesn’t work for some, I ask that you replay the videos to facial expression experts who are unbiased and let them render their opinion.

Does a man in his late 50s (when the alleged events took place) who has taken three different teams to Final Fours, multiple conference championships and a national championship with an unscathed record in major infractions suddenly wake up and think his team needs a recruiting edge off the court to take them to a new level? Scientific research tells us that in regards to reputation, one becomes more risk averse as they age, not more risky and that is easy to understand. Why ruin a career or a reputation when you have already created a legendary biography as a coach?

While the general population does not know Coach Pitino, they know his type as nearly everyone has been around highly successful CEOs, managers, coaches, and teachers. They are “type A” perfectionists and strivers, who exhibit endless grit and relentless work ethic. They take their awards and accomplishments and trophies, celebrate them and put them on the shelf to go further. They delegate and trust their direct reports to do their job so that they can focus their strengths on their highest value.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not get to the Hall of Fame by micromanaging. You achieve success by setting a vision, managing your resources, building your co-workers, and practicing incredible focus.

Good enough for me.

On this very pointed issue, I strongly disagree. Andre may be an idiot and subject to criminal charges, but that doesn't give the media the right to badger him. I've always hated the shit storm that highly visible, public litigation causes for the accused and the victims as well as those caught in the crossfire (family, neighbors, the community at-large). It removes the opportunity to assess the facts of the case for those eventually placed on the jury, ruins these suspects in the cases they are eventually found innocent, and is simply a blemish on our culture that we allow such fervent witch hunting to occur in the name of journalism. Whether that dude in Wisconsin was innocent or not, it's pretty obvious that the media wrangling done by the politicians and officials made it impossible for an unbiased trial to ever occur.

By all account Andre is still trying to dodge responsibility for taking down the university of Louisville. Until he owns up to it, or at least cooperates with the investigation, I will give zero fucks if "reporters" are hunting him down at his workplace.

That's the problem, unless he is served a subpoena, he doesn't have to say a damn thing. Honestly, if I'm Andre, I go into hiding, keep my trap shut, move to Europe, something like that

Seriously though. What has to happen to make this go away? Does Rick need to Go? Does Andre and anyone else who knows anything just need to come out and say something? I don't know what needs to happen, but I'm with J.

Also, This kind of thing makes me borderline embarrassed to be associated with UofL. Not for the long haul, but at this point in time. I wouldn't be surprised if this starts affecting other programs like football and some of the non-revenue generating sports. Not directly, but maybe indirectly.

What if, the coaches like Lamar Thomas and Terell Buckley and Gerrick McGee were really on the fence about leaving... I have to think that all the scandal, while not directly tied to the football program, was at least a little bit considered when they made their decisions. THE MEN'S BASKETBALL IS THE FACE OF THE UNIVERSITY after all...

Disclaimer: I am not saying that they left because of the scandal but I have to believe that it at least crossed each one of their minds...
