Mangok is a great for the UofL Basketball, he is however not great for fantasy basketball. I had him last year and his stats were poor at best.

But Mangok's minutes are going to double. 7 pts, 7 reb, 2 blks per game will be nice for the Dominators

Matz possibly may see some minutes against certain lineups or if Mangok gets injured but, again, we don't need another center. We do, however, need a director of operations, so David Padgett might be one of our selections this year.

Well IronSam you got your wish... I will trade you Chris Jones for Jerian Grant. You will get the satisfaction of having a good cardinal!!

Very tempting but respectfully I will have to decline. Haha.

I'm sure that one would go through if it wasn't for the whole no-trade-clause-on-1st-rounders thing

Haha sorry. I've been thinking about picking him up for a few rounds and he's the last player remaining from my original list.

I think he could round into starter minutes or at the very least be a nice reserve when you're short staffed.

There's an abundance of talent this year. You guys should have been around for the ten team draft from ten aac teams. Barf. Watching lots of temple/UCF/houston/etc so you could watch your player go 8/3/1 was not fun.

It's all good. This draft has flowed much better than year's past. I had company stop by right around noon so I wasn't able to pick anyway.

I have 3 people on my radar for the my last pick. And for the first time in the draft I'm indifferent. I have one that I want more than the others but I'll be fine with either of the others.

On a positive note, we should be able to wrap this up tomorrow! Don't forget about the 12 hour clock.

Phew. Glad to get in that final pick. Nate Britt was better than a throwaway pick, so I went with him. While I can see Joel Berry stealing minutes from him (and possibly even a starting job), Roy prefers experience and defense. I'm counting on that, plus his off-season development along with a somewhat promising supporting cast, to make this pick worthwhile.

and thus concludes the draft. That was quick, and looks to be a lot of parity in this league. Let the good times roll

Highest taken player in our league not taken in Coastal was Joseph Uchebo at 44. Highest in the other league was Dennis Clifford at 63. Only Quinn Cook and Mathiang were taken at the same pick number (both DHC and Empire). Both leagues took 11 players that the other didn't. Coastal gave way too much value to centers this season as that was the greatest differential in pick between the two leagues. The top 7 picks were the same in each league but in different order of course. Overall, interesting draft people.

Only two sets of teams were close in picks and they are:

Blanks and Glacier - 5 same picks
Empire and Freeballers - 4 same picks

Last nerd statement of the day - These numbers stand out to me more as a good layout for preseason rankings and what is funny is that our historically strong teams are at the top of these rankings. The numbers don't take into account those who chose players the other league did not.

Team/pick differential (- means the other league chose the team's picks lower)
Freeballers +68 (all ten picks taken by Atlantic)
Blanks +67 (only team to have all 10 picks taken by Coastal)
Empire +49
JDRYAN +39
Dean +33
Cassell +20
DHC +18
Queen +8
Dozen +8
Wheats -16
Glacier -18
HotHot -40
Fuglys -47
Medium Maint -53
Buzz -58
True Brew -73

That Montrezl 64% FT% looks okay(?) compared to last season on paper but when you factor in it's a closed scrimmage inside one's home arena, it does not necessarily portend a significant improvement. It will hurt his owners if he's going to line as much as we expect him to.

2013-14 Montrezl Harrell's FT% splits:
Road: 48%
Home: 47.2%
Neutral: 41.9%

3PT shooting numbers are interesting:

Rozier: 1-9
Blackshear: 2-9
Harrell: 3-6 (!)

I hope this doesn't turn into Harrell mistakenly thinking he's a 3PT marksman. And Shaqquan...woof.

If he doesn't improve he'll probably see quite a few teams employing a Hack-A-Harrell strategy. Why let him dunk when you can just hard foul him beforehand to make him earn it. Although that's easier said than done.

because Harrell will take 3 guys with him up to the rim and still dunk it on them Big Grin

It looks like Onuaku might be a nice upgrade over Vanilla Godzilla

I like Nanu to slowly accumulate PT once a starting 3/4/5 slacks on rebounding or gets into frequent foul trouble but then conference play starts and who knows. Blackshear was raving about him over the summer. His footwork looked slow & sloppy in the AAU highlights I saw, but he seems more physically ready for the college frontcourt grind than Mangok & Agau were as freshmen.

RE: Draft Comment Thread
I like what Pitino said about Onuaku being unrecognizable after getting after it physically, but he surely can't be ready for a full grind that quick.
He could really be the missing piece in the frontcourt though. All we really need is one good backcourt backup and one good frontcourt backup and we can win big. Might not be able to really grind teams down with depth like usual but we should be as talented, skilled and experienced as anybody that goes 7 deep.

Pretty sure we can rely on this as much as a booster club game as Levitch dropped 10.
