Putting a lot of work into an excel spreadsheet essentially.

3 guys that have never played a collegiate game in the top 10 picks. Wanna be Calipari's around here! haha.

I'm incredibly leery of drafting freshman because I just don't know enough about them on a national level. We must have some recruiting gurus in our midst.

That makes two of us, Cates. Lol. And I keep up with recruiting pretty seriously. With the cache of proven talent in this league, I wouldn't have guessed 3 freshman in the first 10 picks. That's definitely a first for our league, I'd think.

The freshman I took is a gamble for sure. I think that gambles are what wins this league though.

We have Sam, J, and Dean all online. We could run through those 6 picks and turn the corner into round 3 quickly. Let's do it.

My picks will come as soon as we hear from Dean. I'd like for us to knock out another round today. Right now we're averaging almost 5 hours per pick, which is a pretty rough pace for the first couple rounds.

not gonna lie, that's irritating as hell. A guy I had in my top 5 slips through 14 picks and gets nabbed right before my pick. fuck that. Nice pick Dean.

LOL, its burned me in years past. Only time my squad was solid FT shooters was when Dwight Hardy carried the team with his weekly 19/20 efforts. I am liking the team I have gotten so far. The big question is who will be that token Card I select. Really hoping Levitch falls to me ~

My hopes kept getting higher and higher that he would fall to the 16th pick. I was going to be thrilled to get Aaron Thomas and one of the UNC frontcourt players at the turn of the 3rd round. There was going to be a small burst of confetti and I was going to do the Iggy Shuffle in the middle of my office. Alas. My dreams were shattered. The veteran Dean gets the biggest steal of the draft up to this point.

I'm not thrilled about drafting 2 guys from the same frontcourt, but if they get 26+ minutes a night then I'll be in good shape. Dean has a lock on FT%. I'm hoping to have solidified rebounds. And at least I'll be watching a ton of UNC games this year instead of a bunch shitty Temple games Big Grin

My fault about last night, saw the pick was made around 8 but didn't have my excel sheet with me and didn't want to make my pick till this morning. Making good progress today tho. Any idea how fast the other draft is going?

Yeah he was definitely a STEAL at this point. I'm torn on who I want to take next. It's strange with their being so much talent that there really is no wrong answer in the third round and it's more of a question of who is going to maintain and who is going to break out. Meeks is in a lot better shape from what I've been reading. That pick should bode well. He torched us last year.

This draft has looked absolutely nothing like I thought it would. Had I known how this was going to play out, I definitely would have snagged Grant #1. That MF'er is also famous for torching UofL, but I really wanted the position versatility of Connaughton at the time.

That makes two of us. I have failed to guess who's going next about 17 times now. Connaughton is all over the court. A solid contributor in every category. I wanted him.

With Cates pick, I'm finally getting some help narrowing my list. I had 3 guys on my short list and he took number one. Hoping JD doesn't take number 2. If he does, my team will go in another direction.

I was surprised that Grant was on the board when it came time for our pick. It was a no-brainer to grab him, providing he has no off-court issues. He's a more than steady hand in a number of categories.

Insofar as our third pick is concerned, though, I'll freely concede that Winslow was a gamble. I was torn between a few different players; although Winslow was the least proven, he ultimately got the nod. I was going off his U-19 numbers, athletic build, ability to create, great supporting cast, high ceiling ... and a dash of rashness on my part. Time will tell. Here's to hoping that flower blooms this year (and isn't overshadowed by his teammates).

Tokoto was the first pick I felt like I made on my own. My first rounder was dictated by the guys taken ahead and I reached a bit in round 2 to get my center because there was a run on the position and I didn't want to miss out.

whoa whoa whoa ... what's all this talk about "our"? Is this a team effort with you and DHC? Wink

But seriously though, Grant was VERY hard to pass up. I know his numbers from last year are a little inflated - because his 12 games were mostly crappy non conference teams - but even when I dumbed his stats down a bit he still jumped off the chart. Hopefully I won't continue to regret that one as the draft goes on.

Lol go check out his bio.

This is going to be interesting and different for us because you have guys like Tokoto who are talented and experienced and guys like Jackson coming in and you have to see where the minutes are headed. The log jam at Duke is the best example.

If it were a shorter clock people might be a little more inclined to know their shit ahead of time. As it is now with a 1 day clock, it's too easy to wait until it's your turn to do any research.

Bingo. Going forward, everyone reading this please have your homework done at least 3 picks before you, please. Example, this morning I looked at my selections and the draft board and put together 3 picks. Cates took number one and jd took number three. MGH it is. Everything will run smoother.
