Well I'm in trouble considering I'm last in Waiver order lol. Hoping I can just use my team from the draft, and not have to worry much about waivers.

Added to my last post on edit, fyi.

I wouldn't worry too much about Waiver Order early on, because Waiver pick-ups will be going fast and furious the first few weeks. You'll either get a nice player sooner or later. There may be 6 pick-ups in Week 1 and then all of a sudden you're #2 in line for Week 2, where more breakout players will emerge.

And seriously EL, Mike Tobey? We waited all that time for Mike Flippin' Tobey? lol jk Nice pick.

Had to decide from a bunch of bigs who could be studs or complete busts. Still not sure I've made the right call, but at least he won't destroy my FT%.

I'm hoping Brey will do with Auguste what he did with Harangody and Cooley. And I feel like I may a have steal in Jackson.

Those two guys will decide if I've got a championship-caliber team or not. They both put up very impressive numbers in Italy.

Also, I have three quality Centers in case anybody may need one down the line...Big Grin

Auguste and van Zegeren were the other two I was debating along with Tobey. Their FT% scared me off ultimately, as did Auguste's low defense numbers for a 5. But I'm definitely mindful of a repeat of Cooley/Sherman. Wish one of them had made it back around to me on this turn.

Yeah those fts ain't pretty. Holy shit Van Zegeren is pushing .350! If not for that I think he may have been taken much sooner.

And now hopefully you can understand my fretting over the pick. Auguste has the Notre Dame upside history, Zegeren is the best stats guy other than the FT%, and Tobey is the one with the most talent according to everything I have read but also the least production to-date.

Zegeren barely put a blip on my free throw team percentage...he doesn't shoot enough...on Auguste, I can't see how a 5 has under 1.0 defense... great news for me, I still have 10 players that I would still pick right now....mind you 8 of them will be gone when I go again.

Mostly the reason why I took Jekiri with my last pick. At this point the picks feel more & more like rolls of the dice and less like educated guesses.

If we stick with the same divisions/teams, I assume it won't be like this most years, at least this early in the draft, with the coaching and player turnover plus the newness of the conference for us Louisville people.

You better hope more PT doesn't translate to more trips to the line. Zegeren attempted more FT's in his 22 MPG than Jones did in 26 MPG.

I was a lot higher on Jekiri until I saw his performance from their summer trip to Europe. Dude was going up against intramural squads and still not dominating. No bueno.

RE: Draft Comment Thread
Yeah Van Z averaged almost 3 fta per game last year and that should go up this year. If he just bumps it up to 4 fta per game you're looking at an average weekly performance of 3-8 at .375%. That's a category killer. But if he improves on his numbers from the end of the season he could be worth it just for the other categories.

Auguste only played 16 mpg last year but his defense still wasn't good. At this point he's coming off the bench but we'll see if he can improve enough to start.

At least Auguste dominated the summer competition. I was ready to pick him just from those data points, but then I reined in my excitement and remembered the opposing bigs were probably 6'4".

True, the word out of Miami is that he looks good in practice but raw in games. Sounds kinda like Mangok last season. And I agree, that's not insignificant. But the question I asked myself is: who's going to take his minutes?

I'm projecting LarraƱaga to give him a couple months to see if he can play 28-30 mpg of consistent basketball and grab enough rebounds & blocked shots to prove his worth. If it works out, great. If not, it's likely I'll have options either in the draft or free agency.

My draft strategy would be a little different if this were 12-16 teams all drafting from the same field.

Yeah, I've also got about 10 guys circled that I'd be happy with in the next 4 rounds. I think 3 of them will still be there by the time I pick my 9th/10th guys. I kinda like having the 8th pick, though I feel like it tricks me into thinking I can gamble more with 1 of the 2 picks each turn.

Yeah I like having an end spot too. I feel like I can kind of double-down on any perceived weaknesses or enhance strengths. Also, when I saw there were only 2 Centers taken after two rounds I liked taking two good ones off the board. Smile
The downside is that there are A LOT of picks in between ours. Harder to hope certain guys will make it through.

Not liking this Duke team I got going on here. Wanted Tokoto badly but Winslow plays the same type of role so not an awful consolation. Jefferson will probably average something like 8, and 8. Not a great offensive player but he's athletic, and gets garbage buckets

lol Should put up nice Assist and Defense numbers too. And there's not really much competition for his minutes other than Ojeleye right? Free throw percentage stinks but he won't be an offensive focus so that shouldn't hurt too much.

8 boards a game? He would have been 3rd in the league with those kinds of numbers.

Methinks you guys are expecting too much from your 6th men.

I believe he averaged 7 last year. Not too much of a stretch, imo.

That was on a team when jefferson was the center, he now is moving to pf and going to have to split time with semi and possibly plumlee. I would say he drops don to about 5 boards a game and 5 points. Remember their is a beast in the middle that will be better then Anthony Davis was at Kentucky a few years ago, okafor will dominate the boards for duke

I can see Okafor drawing a lot of attention and freeing up Jefferson a lot more.(If Okafor's that good. Wink) Plus, Semi and Plumlee aren't on Jefferson's level are they? They couldn't pull his minutes last year IIRC.

Yes its setting the expectations sky high, but if he is gonna turn duke's team around and avoid giving me near heart attacks in the first round of the ncaa tournament again, he better be that good. I don't think I could take another first round loss, so I try and keep my expectations as high as I can

I personally don't think much of jefferson, he is just another lance thomas. Semi looks good, I just don't know how k is gonna setup the team this year. It is possible that K goes with 3 guards and winslow at the 4. Jefferson mostly got playing time because duke had no one else to play. Now Semi has gotten bigger he can challenge jefferson for playing time. K does like playing vets as opposed to inexperienced players though

Actually the 12-hour rule began at the start of the 7th. We're on a 12-hour rule people.

Unfortunately for the Guardians, their time is up at 5:00 AM. At that point, the Revenge are on the clock and both teams may pick as soon as they are able.

Missed targets:
Brogdon: didn't think I'd have a chance but got teased all the way to the pick before me
Georges-Hunt: pipe dream he'd make it to my 3rd pick; projects as most talented player on his team & should contribute across the board
Bojanovsky: thought he'd be there later; a center who blocks & shoots 68-75% from the line is rare
Rozier: prob should've take him instead of Perrantes but I like spreading picks around to different teams for real world reasons, which is kinda dumb for CEBE purposes

My misses so far:
Rozier: I had some real trouble deciding on this one. I think Rozier is going to be very good but well who else is going to score for Cuse? I decided to go safe with likely 12-14 PPG from Cooney
Tokoto: Damn I really freaking wanted him. Winslow isn't a bad consolation
Paige: Had him as 1 on my predraft list. Okafor was my second choice so not too bad but if Okafor doesn't live up to the hype, I'm in some trouble.
James Robinson: Ughh was hoping he'd slip. Going to be very good for Pitt.
