Technically, with two 7 team divisions each team would play every other team in the whole league except for one in the other division.

But I'm leaning towards just doing one league this year.

1.

But how will the two conferences work tournament time? If one group is drafting from a pool with 8 teams and one with 7 teams, the 7 team league will certainly be at an advantage.

Awesome, thanks for checking in. Smile

I'm thinking about sitting this year out boys. It will make things less complicated and I can do more to make sure that you guys have a good time. Plus it will help out with league depth and also scheduling issues.
I'll let you know what I decide by the end of the week.

The Draft will begin on Friday, October 3rd.

The Draft/Waiver Lotteries will be held Monday night, September 29th.

I'll be releasing the schedule this weekend and this sucka will be rolling in no time!

Harv is MIA(mi). How do we fairly decide on how to separate in the two conferences? I feel like we should probably work this out ASAP.

Hardcore Mode (easy on the noobs):

Atlantic:
Stud Fugly's
Lindy's Empire
Deano's Dragons
Dejuan Wheats
Diehard's Dominators
Freeballers
West Texas HotHot
Needabuzz

Coastal:
Shooting Blanks
Diggler's Dozen
Medium Maintenance
Queen Ann's Revenge
True Brewin'
Guardians of the Cassell
Premature Shooters
[To be named]

OR

Balanced (Probably how it should be):

Atlantic:
Freeballers
Stud Fugly's
Needabuzz
Dejuan Wheats
Diggler's Dozen
Queen Ann's Revenge
Shooting Blanks
[To be named]

Coastal:
Lindy's Empire
Diehard's Dominators
Deano's Dragons
West Texas HotHot
Premature Shooters
Medium Maintenance
True Brewin'
Guardians of the Cassell

To be as fair as possible, we could seed all of the teams that have competed as top to bottom as programs to ensure that we aren't stacking the consensus top 3 potential programs in one conference. Then we could do a live draw to separate the noobs.
This is where the previous discussion left off last week on divisions. It is probably the starting point on two 8-team leagues.

I think the second option (i.e. splitting based on past seasons & then adding the new teams randomly is the better way to go (otherwise I have a feeling all of the best teams will be in the veterans league). Note that the real ACC is always struggling with maintaining existing rivalries, and that may or may not be a consideration.

These divisions should only be relevant on draft day and waiver claims IMO. I still want to play against every team in the league. I say we draw cards to see how the divisions should split, like the draft lottery

RE: Season 7 Sign-Ups!!
Welcome Glacier and yes you're in. I trust you've been keeping up with things. We will begin our draft on Friday, October 3rd.

And I guess that means I'm in. Smile That gives us 16 teams, with two 8-team conferences, The Atlantic and The Coastal. Smile

As for separating the conferences, I think a pool of the 8 oldest teams would be drawn and then the 8 newer clubs would be drawn. That way both groups would be split up as suggested.

I'm afraid that with 16 teams and only 13 regular season weeks, tops, each team will not play two clubs, unless they meet in the tourney.

There will also need to be some separation throughout the season but I'm taking suggestions on how much is needed.

RE: Season 7 Sign-Ups!!
Ok I think I've got it! Eureka!

I couldn't get around the two-forum separation thing in my head until J and Hothot pointed out that it actually isn't needed at all.

All we need to do is make one Lineup thread every week and just have both conferences use it. Lol duh!
And just one Results thread. Both conference's scoresheet will be posted there. Double duh.

As for Trades, both conferences will still send proposals to me and then I'll post something like "Atlantic Trade Proposal #1" with our new little 'A' post icon. Of course only Atlantic teams can vote on Atlantic trades, and same for Coastal.

Waivers should work the same way, i.e. "Coastal Week 1 Waivers".

Can anybody think of any other issues that may arise?

1. As long as I still get a chance to smack down the Premature Shooters
2. I like that idea. I'd much rather play 13 different teams (and miss 2 others) than play only 7 teams (6 of them twice)
3. Like you said, the only things we need to separate are the draft, waivers, and trades. I'd even say the tourney seeding should be taken as if it were one 16 team league (best records get the highest seeds)

The only thing I can think of is that there will be some weeks where both teams will share the same players. I don't think it's much of an issue though. The game will just come down to the other 4 or 5 players on your roster. Maybe set the schedule so all of the Cross-Division games happen during the first 6 weeks of the season. And the final 7 weeks are all Inter-Division games (no similar players).

I'm afraid I can't guarantee that, sorry.

I was planning on doing that. If teams tie I was going to suggest a league-wide vote(selection committee Big Grin) to break ties.

I'm pretty sure I can do that.

Hell, we could even say: if both rosters share the same player, then neither owner is allowed to play him. Every team should have the depth to do that with the 2 division draft format. It adds a nice dynamic to play your bench too. Thoughts?
