Hockey talk
The western conference looks killer! Especially the pacific division. Avalanche are still looking legit at 11-1-0. And the typical battle between Blackhawks and blues in 2nd and 3rd. The west is already looking like they'll keep the cup on their side. Still way too early though.

RE: Hockey talk
I didn't see any of the game but it was nice to see the Bolts handle the Blues last night. Big Grin

10-4 now against a very tough early schedule. Two wins over the Blackhawks, wins over the Kings, Wild, and Blues. Two losses to Boston and a tough loss to Pittsburgh...
We're looking like contenders early.

RE: Hockey talk
I figured you were pleased with the win. Didn't get to watch but i have a Blues app that lets me listen to the games. But yeah looks like Lightning have some quality wins real early. I honestly would've prefer brian elliot be under the net last night instead of halak. Sounded like Blues had a few good opportunities to score with under 5 to go in the 3rd. Better record than the Blues 8-4-2. Just hope by January they're still within a few points from first.

Winter Classic today at 1pm! Nasty little rivalry as the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Detroit Red Wings outside in the Big House. Crowd of 110,000 people expected!

RE: Hockey talk
I tried watching yesterday thinking the additional of outdoor elements would help. Camera angles sucked even more than a normal hockey broadcast and the game looked sloppy IM(untrained)O. Is this the result of taking out the checking and other physical elements of the game? Because I was bored after 3 minutes of each team poking the puck loose from a skater, tossing it along the boards, then rinse/repeat.

RE: Hockey talk
It was very sloppy but it was all due to the snow. It was just piling up like crazy all over the ice and when the puck would hit it it would just stop. So guys were being extra careful and deliberate with it and it was just physically harder to skate through it.

Read an article about it the other day that said ideally there would be no precipitation or sunlight. The sun, even when cold, melts it quicker and blinds players.

Where in the hell was this at? That couldn't be in the US. We don't have half that many people interested in hockey in the US.

Wow, upon digging around, I see that we DO have that many crazy people who will sit outside and watch hockey. You couldn't give me a seat on the 50, 5 rows up to watch hockey outside in the freezing cold for free. Much less pay to sit in the nose bleeds where it COLDER.

Nine goals against Vancouver but the Canucks are apparently spiraling down the toilet.

I read that Stamkos went through a morning skate today and should return to full practice soon. Amazing recovery.

How about that line brawl to start the Canucks/Flames game. lol The Flames coach started it by sending his goons in there to open the game but Tortorella is a lunatic.

Watch the second video before the first one...http://nhl.si.com/2014/01/19/john-tortor...?eref=sihp

Here's what the penalty box looked like 2 seconds into the game. lmao http://i.imgur.com/2hY4ecc.jpg

Olympic hockey time! Who's excited? http://olympics.si.com/olympic-ice-hocke...?eref=sihp

I didn't want Marty St. Louis to get the call up to replace Stammer, the guy needs some rest. He ain't 18 anymore and the Bolts have a real chance this year, but only if St. Louis is a big part of it.

Russians up 1-0 after a sweet individual play from Datsyuk. Americans are playing way too deliberately. They're thinking too much and not playing hockey. Russia is really free-flowing and fun right now.
