The western conference looks killer! Especially the pacific division. Avalanche are still looking legit at 11-1-0. And the typical battle between Blackhawks and blues in 2nd and 3rd. The west is already looking like they'll keep the cup on their side. Still way too early though.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 11-03-2013 08:42 AM

I didn't see any of the game but it was nice to see the Bolts handle the Blues last night. Big Grin

10-4 now against a very tough early schedule. Two wins over the Blackhawks, wins over the Kings, Wild, and Blues. Two losses to Boston and a tough loss to Pittsburgh...
We're looking like contenders early.

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 11-03-2013 11:35 AM

I figured you were pleased with the win. Didn't get to watch but i have a Blues app that lets me listen to the games. But yeah looks like Lightning have some quality wins real early. I honestly would've prefer brian elliot be under the net last night instead of halak. Sounded like Blues had a few good opportunities to score with under 5 to go in the 3rd. Better record than the Blues 8-4-2. Just hope by January they're still within a few points from first.

Winter Classic today at 1pm! Nasty little rivalry as the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Detroit Red Wings outside in the Big House. Crowd of 110,000 people expected!

Recommended viewing.

Love the winter classic. Would love to go to one eventually. Bucket list item.

RE: Hockey talk - DieHardCards - 01-01-2014 12:54 PM

No way there is 100,000 people in the US that like hockey. Is this in canada?

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-01-2014 01:04 PM

On now. http://www.feed2all.eu/watch/230305/2/watch-detroit-red-wings-vs-toronto-maple-leafs.html

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-01-2014 01:11 PM

Wow what a spectacle! Truly impressive. The crowd is purple, red and blue mixed together everywhere.

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 01-01-2014 06:17 PM

What a game! Love shootouts.

RE: Hockey talk - Junkman - 01-02-2014 06:39 AM

Hockey - the ability to discharge a lugi from your throat without it touching your tongue.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-02-2014 04:53 PM

That was just uncalled for. lol

So nobody saw any of that amazing spectacle?

I tried watching yesterday thinking the additional of outdoor elements would help. Camera angles sucked even more than a normal hockey broadcast and the game looked sloppy IM(untrained)O. Is this the result of taking out the checking and other physical elements of the game? Because I was bored after 3 minutes of each team poking the puck loose from a skater, tossing it along the boards, then rinse/repeat.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-02-2014 05:04 PM

It was very sloppy but it was all due to the snow. It was just piling up like crazy all over the ice and when the puck would hit it it would just stop. So guys were being extra careful and deliberate with it and it was just physically harder to skate through it.

Read an article about it the other day that said ideally there would be no precipitation or sunlight. The sun, even when cold, melts it quicker and blinds players.

RE: Hockey talk - Junkman - 01-02-2014 06:27 PM

Where in the hell was this at? That couldn't be in the US. We don't have half that many people interested in hockey in the US.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-02-2014 06:42 PM

Was at the Big House, Michigan's football stadium.

RE: Hockey talk - Junkman - 01-02-2014 07:12 PM

Wow, upon digging around, I see that we DO have that many crazy people who will sit outside and watch hockey. You couldn't give me a seat on the 50, 5 rows up to watch hockey outside in the freezing cold for free. Much less pay to sit in the nose bleeds where it COLDER.

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 01-02-2014 09:54 PM

It would be hard to sit in the cold weather and watch, but I would attempt it.

The Ducks are looking good! Western Conference is going to take the cup again.

Nine goals against Vancouver but the Canucks are apparently spiraling down the toilet.

I read that Stamkos went through a morning skate today and should return to full practice soon. Amazing recovery.

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 01-16-2014 10:25 PM

that's awesome. i still think the most brutal injury i've seen was the guy who had his carotid artery cut by a skate.

RE: Hockey talk - DieHardCards - 01-16-2014 10:32 PM

Did happy Gilmore do it?

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 01-17-2014 09:39 AM

hahaha. quite possibly.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 01-19-2014 02:04 PM

How about that line brawl to start the Canucks/Flames game. lol The Flames coach started it by sending his goons in there to open the game but Tortorella is a lunatic.

Watch the second video before the first one...http://nhl.si.com/2014/01/19/john-tortorella-canucks-flames-locker-room-brawl/?eref=sihp

Here's what the penalty box looked like 2 seconds into the game. lmao http://i.imgur.com/2hY4ecc.jpg

Olympic hockey time! Who's excited? http://olympics.si.com/olympic-ice-hockey/2014/02/11/2014-mens-ice-hockey-ten-questions?eref=sihp

I didn't want Marty St. Louis to get the call up to replace Stammer, the guy needs some rest. He ain't 18 anymore and the Bolts have a real chance this year, but only if St. Louis is a big part of it.

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 02-11-2014 05:40 PM

It worries me with 10 guys from the Blues in the Olympics. Hopefully none of them get injured.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-11-2014 06:03 PM

Wow that's nuts! I didn't know there were that many from any one team. Is that the most?

RE: Hockey talk - @critchelow - 02-11-2014 06:10 PM

Red Wings and Blackhawks also have 10 a piece but there isn't a team that has more than that.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 07:31 AM

Rise and shine! It's hockey time!

USA versus Russia starting now.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 07:45 AM

Russia is just too quick right now. The US is chasing badly. We had some early woofing after Bobrovsky held is glove up on that save. Smile

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 07:50 AM

Way to go Wheeler.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 07:54 AM

Referee just got a hard slapper right in his biscuit basket. Oooooooooh

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 08:06 AM

Radulov is good. That Russian goalie is sharp.

US on the PP...

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 08:07 AM

Great 1st period.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 08:46 AM

Russians up 1-0 after a sweet individual play from Datsyuk. Americans are playing way too deliberately. They're thinking too much and not playing hockey. Russia is really free-flowing and fun right now.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 08:54 AM

Goal USA! Heavy traffic in front of the net forces one in from defenseman Fowler. Now it's getting lively. Big Grin

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 09:16 AM

Here we go, 3rd period begins. 1-1.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 09:39 AM

Awesome one-timer gives the US a 2-1 lead but Datsyuk scores his second of the game to tie it with 7 minutes left.

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 09:46 AM

Russian goal is disallowed with 5 minutes left! The goal was off its posts when the goal went in. Game on!

RE: Hockey talk - HarveyGlass - 02-15-2014 09:48 AM

lolol "Prison Rules!"
